On every assessment, a Lead clinician is paired with a Support clinician, so you are never doing it alone. We work with each other, not around each other.
The Role
As a Support Psychologist, you’re the remote half of Thrive’s collaborative pair. While a Lead handles the in-person assessment, you gather records virtually, support scoring, and write the report, and in our Support-Authored model, you author the majority of it. It’s flexible, remote-first work for clinicians who love assessment and writing and want to build it around their life, including a private practice or other roles.
Remote-first, but every Thrive clinician contributes to in-person delivery: you commit to a minimum of about one in-person assessment week per year (roughly five students), with travel time paid and expenses covered. Assessment work is paid through our project-based model; training and meetings are hourly.

What You’ll Do
- Virtually gathering and organizing the student records needed for each assessment.
- Administering cognitive and academic assessment batteries virtually (tele-assessment) when assigned.
- Drafting and authoring clear, data-driven reports, including, in the Support-Authored model, the majority of the report.
- Collaborating remotely with the assigned Lead so every deliverable is accurate, high-quality, and on time.
- Writing Academics and ERMHS sections into reports when assigned.
- Completing about one in-person assessment week per year (~5 students); travel paid and expenses covered.
- Joining monthly workgroups, team meetings, and one-on-ones.
What We’re Looking For
- Active Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential in School Psychology (CA CTC).
- Master’s-level degree in School Psychology or a closely related field.
- Experience writing psychoeducational, academic, and ERMHS reports in a school setting.
- Experience administering cognitive and academic assessment batteries virtually (tele-assessment).
- Strong, efficient report-writing and comfort working independently in a remote environment.
- Willingness to complete about one in-person assessment week (~5 students) per year; travel paid and expenses covered.
- Clear, warm communication and the organization to manage multiple cases and deadlines on your own.
- The accountability and self-direction to own your caseload and deliver excellent work with minimal oversight, on time, every time.
- A growth mindset and genuine openness to learning and to new tools, including AI, that help you work smarter without compromising clinical quality or professional standards.
- A genuine customer-service mindset: you see the schools and families you serve as partners, communicate proactively, and look for ways to improve the experience Thrive delivers.

Our Values
Compensation
This is a part-time, non-exempt (W-2) position paid through Thrive’s project-based pay model.
You’re paid a clear, fixed rate for each completed assessment, plus your hourly rate for non-assessment work such as training, meetings, and consultation. While an assessment is in progress you receive 50% of your hourly rate for the hours you log; the remaining balance is paid as a bonus once the assessment is complete (typically when the IEP meeting is held). You always know what you’ll earn, and you can take on more to grow your income.
- Travel: paid at 50% of your hourly rate, with expenses covered for your annual in-person assessment week.
- Project pay: on top of your hourly rate, every completed assessment earns a fixed project rate. The amount depends on the assessment type and your role on the collaborative team, and add-on assessments such as Academics, ERMHS, and IEEs increase it further. Because our Lead and Support model splits each assessment between two clinicians, specific project rates are shared in your offer, where we can walk you through how they work.
- Profit-share bonus: beyond your hourly and project pay, Thrive shares 20% of company profits with the team. Your share is based on your performance metrics and the volume you deliver. This profit share is committed annually and paid at year-end; when budgets allow, it may be paid twice a year.
Final hourly and project rates are confirmed in your offer letter, based on your experience and location.
